Dotster uptime by DotsterReviews.org for July 2009: 95.194% over the internet
Dotster uptime for last month was 99.929%, and dotster uptime for this month is 95.194% only. 31 service downtime and over 2000 minutes of service failure. That is huge number of service downtime. Dotster hosting with major downtime at 3rd and 4th of the month. Dotster data centre was in fire, and causing alots of website failure. This might be the cause of it. 3rd of july watch 0% uptime, the dotster hosting server was down the whole day.
Dotster uptime for september 2008: 99.487% over the Internet
30 service downtime occur at this september 2008, which caused the service uptime to fall below 99.5%. For the recent few months, dotster uptime is really bad, we had seen many months of poor service uptime like this one, and there are many downtime issue.
Dotster server appear to be slow this month, with average response time at 0.35 second. Compare it with other web hosting server response time at: hostgator, host monster, ixwebhosting, fatcow, lunarpages, bluehost, web hosting pad, fastdomain, powweb, dot5hosting, ipowerweb, eukhost, a2 hosting, site5 etc.
Dotster FTP services suck. After a few months of using dotster web hosting, and experiencing their FTP upload and FTP download, my experience never been this terrible before.
I trying to FTP upload the new WordPress script version 2.6.2 to dotster server. the FTP process being terminated by server a lot of times. The server giving me FTP terror code 530 as following
“530 Sorry, the maximum number of clients (2) from your host are already connected.”
Seem like dotster FTP server only allowed two connection a time. So I’ve set the filezilla to have maximum of two FTP connection. I close the connection and reattemp FTP upload to dotster server. it failed to again, giving in the same error. I wait more than 15 minutes and reattempt the FTP uploading again, but it still failed. Appear to be dotster FTP server did not terminate and clear the previous closed FTP session.
My experience using dotster FTP services it’s terrible, it took me more than an hour to upload the 900 WordPress files, that only smaller than 3MB in size. This is a Big nightmare.
Dotster uptime for August 2008: 99.345% over the Internet
The previous 2 months, dotster uptime had recorded at 99.8%. but for the month of August 2008, dotster uptime had declined to 99.3% level. Which is a very bad service uptime statistic, almost 7% of service downtime. With 58 failure detected. The server average response time recorded at 0.39 second only.
This month dotster server is having lots more service downtime. Dotster service uptime is poor if compare with other major web hosting providers like hostgator, host monster, ixwebhosting, eukhost, a2 hosting, lunarpages, bluehost, web hosting pad, fatcow, fastdomain, powweb, dot5hosting, ipowerweb, site5 etc.
